Mayor Bloomberg says there can be a one cent per ounce tax on sugared soda which would help fun schools and health care. A penny per ounce would make a 16 oz soda cost .16 cents more!
Of course the mayor plays the healthy/unhealthy card – if you tax something so much, people will switch to healthier juice products. So if everyone switched to juice and NO ONE drinks soda, then what? close the soda factories and leave 1,000s of people out of work?
Or, then start taxing juice.
How about we start taxing air! Good luck going without air.
Suprisingly, most New Yorkers do not support the idea of a soda tax. Since when does ANYONE support a tax these days?
